So… I haven’t posted in awhile. I just got started at school and am pretty busy. We’ve had two weeks of class and I had been struggling to figure out a project for myself. Last week I scanned some negatives from my drive from Portland to Chicago and one picture stuck with me (shown here). I couldn’t figure out why until it clicked for me last Friday after seminar. I’m showing my first work in a few days (a week after I finally realized what I want to do) so I’m busting my ass making work and then I gotta develop, scan, color correct, clean off dust and print by Friday morning. I’m still in the shooting process.
Anyway, my project is about representations of the natural landscape. In the shot that inspired it, there’s a gas station with a mural of a mountainscape. I photographed a bus stop bench with an advertisement on it that included a photograph of a lake. I also am creating pictures (like I bought a case of Coors and photographed the cans in a refrigerator to form a mountain range). Any ideas? Leave me a comment and maybe I’ll make a photo based on your suggestion!
